Learn about UCPath’s latest security enhancement, which launched November 25, 2024.
What Changed?
UCPath security roles will be automatically removed from employees who experience an inter-location transfer. Automated security deprovisioning will also occur in cases where the employee has elevated UCPath access across multiple UC Locations and their employment is terminated at one Location.
A daily process will identify employees who experience an inter-location transfer, where they have been hired at a receiving UC Location and terminated at a departing UC Location. Their UCPath security role(s) will be automatically deprovisioned.
Security administrators for both departing and receiving Locations will receive a Security Deprovisioned Notification via email. The message will include an Employee Deprovisioned Roles Report, which includes:
- Employee ID
- Employee Name
- Deprovisioned Role
- Departing Location
- Date & Time of Deprovisioning
- Security Admin Who Last Changed Employee's Access
The receiving Location may then follow standard procedures for provisioning the employee’s appropriate UCPath security role(s) for the new Location.
Why This Helps
Automatically deprovisioning security roles for inter-location transfers helps prevent concurrent access to old and new Locations in UCPath and unauthorized access.
The automated process ensures a consistent transfer experience for employees and simplifies the security provisioning process for receiving Locations.
Correction: A CRU communication distributed on 11/26 incorrectly stated that the automated security deprovisioning security update applied to employee transfers within a single UC Location (intra-location transfer). Please note: These security updates only apply to inter-location transfers, or employee transfers from one UC Location to another UC Location. This article was edited on 12/3 to reflect this change.
