The courses required to access UCPath are broken into three separate areas:
- Introductory Courses: All courses are required.
- Policy Courses: Courses relevant to your transactional population are required.
- Area Courses: Courses relevant to your role within your department (e.g., Initiator, Approver, Inquiry) and your associated responsibilities (see below breakdown) are required.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How is role access determined?
- UCPath access for transaction-based roles is granted in the Distributed Administrative Computing Security System (DACSS). Departmental Security Administrators (DSAs) will use DACSS to authorize what a user can do and which departments a user can see (e.g., Department 123400).
- How do I access UCPath?
- UCPath utilizes UCLA's Single Sign-On. All active UCLA employees have access to the UCPath portal; however, role-based pages won't be visible until a user has completed the necessary courses and been granted access by their DSA.
- What are the main roles in UCPath?
- Initiator: responsible for entering transactions into UCPath and submitting for approval
Approver: responsible for reviewing and approving transactions
Inquiry: view-only access to specific UCPath pages - What are the secondary roles in UCPath?
-
AWE Administrator: Monitors transaction routing and resolves bottle-necks; can re-route transactions but cannot approve
Global Administrator: Responsible for resolving complex transactions (only granted to central offices like Campus Human Resources)
Global Administrator Finance: Responsible for resolving complex finance transactions (only granted to Business and Finance Solutions)
