Updates and Reminders
Change to 403(b) Loan Repayments
Beginning in April 2026, repayments for Fidelity 403(b) loans (403GEN or 403PRN) will no longer be deducted from your paycheck. Instead, loan repayments must be made through Fidelity’s Automated Clearing House (ACH) service, which deducts the payment directly from your bank account.
- UC will no longer deduct loan repayments from employee paychecks after the April 1, 2026, monthly and April 8, 2026, biweekly paychecks.
- Impacted employees have already started to receive communications directly from Fidelity beginning in February.
- If you currently have an outstanding 403(b) loan, you must take action beginning April 13, 2026, to set up ACH repayments through Fidelity.
For step-by-step instructions on how to set up ACH payments, review the Fidelity resource: How 403(b) loans work

SSN Compliance
Accurate employee records in UCPath are crucial for compliance and to avoid negative consequences downstream.
While SSNs are not required at hire, obtaining them when possible can streamline onboarding. To support a smooth onboarding experience for employees, we encourage locations to:
- Capture the SSN at the time of hire, whenever available
- If an employee presents their SSN card during an I-9 process, please do not record the SSN outside of the designated fields in the Tracker I-9 system. Instead, locations should develop a secure process to record the SSN in UCPath
- Implement a follow-up process when an SSN is pending
- Review onboarding workflows to ensure consistent completion of this step
Properly documenting Social Security Numbers (SSNs) helps ensures uninterrupted access to benefits, retirement plans, payroll processing, and mandatory reporting systems.
UC Patent Acknowledgement
UC’s patent policy requires all employees and contractors to sign a patent acknowledgment.
Location transactors can identify employees and contractors missing the patent acknowledgment electronic signature in UCPath by running the Missing Patent Acknowledgements (R-396) report in Cognos.
