UCPath Alert: Phone Security Update

Lock and chain

On 10/6/2021, we received the following alert from the UCPath Center.

Effective October 7, all inbound and outbound calls made “to and from” the UCPath Center will be authenticated with an additional security process. This authentication is an added level of security due to the Accellion data breach.

When the UCPath Center initiates an inbound or outbound phone call, the UCPath associate will ask the individual to answer two non-compromised questions from their employee record such as: what is your location, department, pay frequency, reporting manager’s name, etc…

The caller will have three attempts to answer correctly. If the UCPath Center cannot authenticate the call, the associate will:

  • provide the calller with instructions on how to submit an inquiry to get their issue addressed (reason for calling UCPath) or
  • only answer general questions such as:
    • When is Open Enrollment?
    • How long is the period of initial eligibility?
    • What is the UCPath fax number?
    • How do I login into UCPath?

We anticipate that this enhanced authentication process will be in place until we can implement a new phone system with multi-factor authentication.

Questions?

Please direct all questions regarding the phone authentication process to the UCPath Center.

Thank you,
UCPath
