UCPath Notice: Upcoming Change to Fidelity 403(b) Loan Repayments

A UCLA Blue swatch

On March 20, we received the following alert from the UCPath center.

Beginning in April 2026, the process for repaying Fidelity 403(b) loans will change. UC will no longer deduct loan repayments from employee paychecks after the April 1, 2026, monthly and April 8, 2026, biweekly paychecks.

Employees must make repayments directly to Fidelity through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) service, which withdraws payments from an employee’s personal bank account.

Employees who currently have an outstanding 403(b) loan will need to take action between April 13 and May 20, 2026, to establish ACH repayments through Fidelity to ensure payments continue without interruption.

Communication Schedule

Impacted employees received communications directly from Fidelity

  • February 12, 2026, via preferred email on file
  • March 12, 2026, via preferred email on file and postal mail (mailed on this date)

Additional communications are scheduled to be sent

  • March 30, 2026, via preferred email on file
  • April 13, 2026, via preferred email on file
  • Starting as early as April 27, 2026, Fidelity will send those who have not yet taken action reminders to provide banking details and to select a debit date to avoid default.
