On October 16, we received the following alert from the UCPath Center.
UCPath continues to strengthen security measures to help protect employee information and support earlier identification of potentially unauthorized account activity.
Beginning Monday, October 19, 2026, UCPath will introduce SMS (text message) notifications as an additional security measure for certain direct deposit changes.
What's Changing
- UCPath will begin a pilot of SMS notifications for direct deposit changes involving a limited group of financial institutions
- Employees whose direct deposit changes meet the pilot criteria may receive a text message asking them to confirm whether they made the change
- SMS notifications will be sent through scheduled campaigns rather than immediately following a direct deposit change. Employees may receive a notification a few days after making a change
- Each message will include instructions for responding, helping UCPath identify potentially unauthorized changes and coordinate timely follow-up
The pilot will help UCPath evaluate the process, address any issues and ensure appropriate support is in place before expanding SMS notifications to all financial institutions.
What You Need to Do
No action is required unless you receive a text message requesting confirmation of a direct deposit change. If you receive a message, follow the instructions provided.
Employees can continue to update their direct deposit information in UCPath as usual.
This enhancement supports UCPath's ongoing efforts to strengthen account security while ensuring employees can continue to manage their information securely and conveniently.
Thank you,
UCPath
