UCPath Notice: Duplicate Union Deductions

A UCLA Blue swatch

On May 5, we received the following alert from the UCPath Center (UCPC) regarding duplicate flat-rate union deductions.

UCPC is working diligently to resolve the issue. Unless explicitly requested by UCPC, do not submit cases related to this issue.

The UCPath Center has identified an issue with some flat-rate union dues deductions being duplicated when an employee is paid on multiple pay cycles. For example:

Employee received an off-cycle payment for missed pay in addition to their normally scheduled (on-cycle) paycheck. Both the on-cycle and off-cycle pay include the flat-rate union dues deduction.

At this time, the issue only impacts employees represented by the systemwide Police Officers (PA), California Nurses (NX) unions and UC Berkeley (UCB) Skilled Craft (KB) union for which flat-rate deductions are configured without a cap. UCPC created a Jira ticket to track this issue.

UCPath is identifying the affected employees and determining next steps in coordination with Systemwide Labor Relations and UCB teams. A manual process has been implemented to prevent future occurrences.

  • There is no need to submit inquiries related to this issue. UCPath will provide an update on Monday, May 8, 2023.

Thank You,
UCPath
