UCPath Notice: Update to Concurrent Hire Smart HR Templates

On April 30, we received the following message from the UCPath Center (UCPC) regarding updates to Concurrent Hire Smart HR templates.

  • UCPath will remove the Personal Data tab from the Concurrent Hire / Interlocation Transfer (Staff and Academic) Smart HR templates effective May 1, 2026.
  • UCPC will update UCPath job aids and provide a follow‑up communication once revised resources are available.

Update to Concurrent Hire Smart HR Templates

UCPath will update the Concurrent Hire/Interlocation Transfer (staff and academic) Smart HR templates on May 1, 2026.

As part of this update, UCPath will remove the Personal Data tab from the Concurrent Hire templates. No action is required from locations at this time.

What is changing

Concurrent Hire transactions are designed to add an additional job record for an existing employee. Removing the Personal Data tab will:

  • Prevent system errors caused by duplicate effective-dated data in the personnel information fields
  • Ensure Personal Data updates occur through the appropriate channels (employee self-service and Personal Data templates)

What this means for locations

  • Locations will no longer be able to view or update Personal Data within Concurrent Hire Smart HR templates
  • Continue to process Personal Data updates through employee self-service or the Personal Data Change template
  • Job data, compensation and earnings distribution functionality will remain unchanged

What is not changing

This update applies only to Smart HR templates. Other entry methods, including Mass Hire, integrations and Manage Human Resources, will not be impacted. UCPath will evaluate these areas and communicate any future updates, if needed.
