UCPath Notice: One-Time Passcode Security Check Is Live

A UCLA Gold swatch.

On October 26, we received the following alert from the UCPath Center.

UCPath’s new one-time passcode security check is now in effect. This added security measure helps protect employee accounts and personal information and helps reduce fraud.

After signing in, employees must enter a one-time passcode sent to the personal phone number or personal email address on file in UCPath before accessing the following sensitive pages:

  • Direct Deposit
  • Personal Contact Details
  • Security Question Setup

For these pages, the one-time passcode replaces security questions. Security questions remain in place for access to all other sensitive UCPath pages. Each new login session to UCPath will prompt the one-time passcode process when accessing these sensitive pages.

What You Need to Do

Please help employees prepare for and use the new security check:

  • Remind employees to keep their personal phone number and personal email address current in UCPath
  • Direct employees to Personal Information > Contact Details to review or update their information
  • Remind employees to enter a passcode only after initiating a UCPath sign-in
  • Remind employees never to share their passcode. UCPath will never ask for it
  • Direct employees to contact UCPath if they receive an unexpected passcode or need assistance
  • Share the Keeping Your UCPath Account Secure job aid with employees who need additional guidance

Employees who received a separate message about missing personal contact information should follow the instructions in that message.
